Overheard Poetry

Overheard Poetry
This page is dedicated to poetry, but not just any poetry. This is overheard poetry. As a student in high school, I overhear a number of just seemingly random thoughts and snippets of conversations throughout the day. So, I came up with the idea of taking all of these oddities, confessions, remarks, and the like, and use them to paint a picture of what life is like as a high school student today. Each line of poetry will represent a different bit of conversation I couldn't help but overhear, which I then knit together to form something of a cultural quilt. I think a lot of what will show up may be rather surprising. I think patterns will emerge that may have gone otherwise unnoticed. Or maybe teenagers are just completely stupid. Regardless, it will no doubt be entertaining.
Because of the nature of this poetry, there will be no set update schedule. I carry a notebook with me, and write down what I hear. Anything at all. Is it interesting? Funny? Tragic? Some sort of wibbly-wobbly blend? Everything will be posted exactly as I hear it. That is my only promise to you, that nothing on this page will be modified at all from precisely what I heard.

Did you tell him?
You know what I want
It's old

The dumbing down of America
Education is not doing what it's supposed to do
We don't learn, we do the book.

Keep the truth hidden
Keeping it confused

Psychological communism
Dead-zone of imagination
Trying to fix what's broke, keeping the broken.

You know what I want,
But not for me.

Can we lock Mr. Fitz out?
That was a compliment-you just don't know it.
I was in such a good mood and now it's over
She makes it worse
But not for me.
